Pre-Purchase Counseling

After completing homebuyer education with NeighborWorks Green Bay you will meet one-on-one with a HUD-Certified housing counselor for a pre-purchase counseling appointment.

Keep in mind that it may be a few weeks before you are able to schedule this counseling appointment.

 

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • You will meet either in-person or virtually through Zoom for this appointment.
  • The appointment will last up to 90-minutes.
  • You and your counselor will discuss topics such as:
    • Your housing goals.
    • Your household income and expenses.
    • How much you can afford to spend on a mortgage payment.
    • Your credit report and monthly debts.
    • Saving for a home.
    • Applying for pre-approval with a mortgage lender.
    • Finding a real estate agent.
    • Down payment assistance eligibility.
    • Connecting you with other community resources.
    • Getting a home inspection.
  • Create an action plan with goals and next steps for your homeownership journey.
