Why Volunteers Love It

Leah Stroobants

Leah Stroobants

Volunteer, Good Neighbor Week

Leah Stroobants has made Good Neighbor Week part of her yearly routine. “I enjoy helping people when I can and enjoy knowing that I can make a difference in my local community,” she says.

What brings her back each year? “I like the people that we get to meet, the other volunteers and the homeowners. I most enjoy seeing the homeowners’ faces once a project is complete and seeing the difference that we were able to make as a team.”

For Leah, the impact lasts long after the week ends. “I like being able to drive past some of the houses that we helped work on and see the differences we made in the community.”

Her message to new volunteers: “Give it a shot. There are tons of things that need to be done, and they will always find something for you to do based on your skill level. The people you get to meet are great and they always feed you a lunch lol.”
