WHAT IS GOOD NEIGHBOR WEEK?

Good Neighbor Week is a community-wide initiative that brings together volunteers, sponsors, and neighbors to complete minor home repairs, landscaping, and yard improvement projects for homeowners who could use a helping hand.

NeighborWorks Green Bay partners with Green Bay Neighborhoods, the De Pere Area Chamber of Commerce, and local municipalities to coordinate projects that make homes safer, more accessible, and more welcoming. Projects take place in Green Bay, the Village of Allouez, and the City of De Pere during three separate weeks, with neighbors and volunteers working side-by-side to strengthen their communities.

Each year, volunteers help complete a wide range of projects such as landscaping, exterior repairs, accessibility improvements, and other small but meaningful upgrades that help homeowners maintain pride in their homes and neighborhoods.

Good Neighbor Week is about more than completing projects - it’s about building connections. Volunteers often work directly alongside neighbors and homeowners, creating opportunities to meet people in their community and see firsthand the impact of their efforts.

The program also serves as a hands-on learning opportunity for participants in the Community Leadership Institute, who help organize and lead projects as part of their community leadership development.

Together, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners help ensure that neighbors in need can live in safe, comfortable homes while strengthening the spirit of cooperation that makes our communities thrive.

HOW TO APPLY FOR A HOME IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

Applications for Good Neighbor Week are accepted from March through early May for minor home and yard repairs and landscaping projects. To be considered, complete the confidential application for home improvement assistance during the application window. You may nominate yourself or a neighbor in need. Special consideration is given to the elderly, veterans, low-income households, and individuals facing hardships. Non-owner occupied rental properties are not eligible for assistance.

After submitting an application, a member of the Good Neighbor Week Planning Committee will contact you/the homeowner to review the request and visit your home/property to assess your project prior to approval. You/the homeowners will be notified if your project is selected.  All work will take place during Good Neighbor Week Allouez, Good Neighbor Week Green Bay, or Good Neighbor Week De Pere depending on your location.
The completion of the application does not guarantee that you will receive services. If you/the homeowner are selected, our expectation is that the you/the homeowner will be present the day of the project.

SPONSORING A GOOD NEIGHBOR WEEK PROJECT

Good Neighbor Week brings together community volunteers and sponsors to help homeowners in need with projects that improve safety, accessibility, and curb appeal.

Sponsors play an important role in making these projects possible while also building meaningful connections with neighbors and the community.

What Sponsors Can Expect

Community Impact
With the support of sponsors and volunteers, Good Neighbor Week projects help transform yards, complete minor home repairs, and create safer, more welcoming spaces for homeowners throughout our community.

Hands-On Engagement
Many sponsors choose to participate directly by volunteering alongside their team. This provides a unique opportunity to meet the neighbors being served and see the immediate impact of your support.

Sponsor Recognition and Engagement Opportunities

Organizations that sponsor Good Neighbor Week may receive opportunities such as:
