WHAT IS GOOD NEIGHBOR WEEK?
Good Neighbor Week is a community-wide initiative that brings together volunteers, sponsors, and neighbors to complete minor home repairs, landscaping, and yard improvement projects for homeowners who could use a helping hand.
NeighborWorks Green Bay partners with Green Bay Neighborhoods, the De Pere Area Chamber of Commerce, and local municipalities to coordinate projects that make homes safer, more accessible, and more welcoming. Projects take place in Green Bay, the Village of Allouez, and the City of De Pere during three separate weeks, with neighbors and volunteers working side-by-side to strengthen their communities.
Each year, volunteers help complete a wide range of projects such as landscaping, exterior repairs, accessibility improvements, and other small but meaningful upgrades that help homeowners maintain pride in their homes and neighborhoods.
Good Neighbor Week is about more than completing projects - it’s about building connections. Volunteers often work directly alongside neighbors and homeowners, creating opportunities to meet people in their community and see firsthand the impact of their efforts.
The program also serves as a hands-on learning opportunity for participants in the Community Leadership Institute, who help organize and lead projects as part of their community leadership development.
Together, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners help ensure that neighbors in need can live in safe, comfortable homes while strengthening the spirit of cooperation that makes our communities thrive.
